likely a user translated beyond normal range the laser adjustments or the microswitch that turns the beam on and off during tip loading latched.  looking in to it soon as I can.

mechanical issues with user
cleaned all slider and mouint surfaces
found lock screw galled beyond reasonable use
mount alignment pads damaged or worn.
USERS WILL NEED TO BE GENTLE AND CAREFUL UPON INSERTION OF THE SCAN HEAD AS PER PROCEDURES

feedback loop has trouble tracking the surface, large drifts from line to line. Could not get a usable image.
