I took a look at the afm2 this evening and I was able
to find the corrupted parameter files that were
keeping the microscope program from running properly. 
I have removed the shortcut on the desktop that
pointed to the "old" spm program.  Users can return to
using the shortcut called "Nanoscope 5.12b48".

I started it up and it worked fine but let me know if
there are any additional problems.

Thanks to Yue Liang for letting me play with the
machine while she was using it.
