He looked over the known issues and we seem to have fixed most of them. Here is an update: - Chiller (Temptronic) leak fixed and fluid topped off. This should work normally now. Please use it and RECORD IN THE LOGBOOK what temperature / duration you use it at. We have a 90-day warranty so I will watch fluid consumption very carefully. - Vacuum switches (bottom right) replaced. This seems to have fixed the leak. The outer chuck (bottom switch) still seems weak, but it is way better than before. - Manipulator vacuum (gold ports underneath the cable connections) have been fixed. All ports work now. - Manipulators have been cleaned internally and squirted out. Vacuum works fine on all. - I have installed the manipulators in more ergonomic configuration (the side screws are now symmetric). Note that the manipulator order is now 6, 2, 3, 4. Some notes on usage. - Do not put anything on the top surface of the probe station. No wafer boxes, tweezer boxes, and especially no food! This contaminates the vacuum lines. - If the surface looks dirty, wipe it off with a kimwipe and IPA. - Use N2 purge at all times while probing! The tech stressed this. - Do not touch the gold vacuum ports (manipulator lines). Unused ports should be pulled out at all times (this means they are off). - Fill out the logbook. If I see you used it and didn't fill out the book, you will be warned. - If you see a problem with the system, e-mail me, Gaurav, and Duygu with _detailed information_ in addition to filing an error report on Coral. We received the new probe tips today. I am not sure if we need new tips on any of the probes -- if we do, please tell me tonight and I will install them tomorrow. I will put up some warning labels on the Cascade. I think we have been doing pretty well on keeping this a clean system (the tech has seen a lot worse), but the service calls are expensive and time-consuming. I would like to avoid them. The system is ready to use. There is no light coming out from the lamp box. Thanks, SangBum -----Original Message----- From: gthareja at stanford.edu [mailto:gthareja at stanford.edu] Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2008 6:03 PM To: cascade at snf.stanford.edu Subject: cascade lamp problem Hi all Jim just now helped to replace the interesting projection lamp in the cascade. things are up. just want to emphasize one point. The lamp gets activated by the following method 1. enable on coral 2. turn on the white lamp box 3. adjust lamp brightness (from max to min depending on your measurements) with the black brightness/focus box. just follow this order when you start using the lamp and the reverse order when you turn off the lamp. The lamp gets stressed, if you turn off/on the system on max brightness. cheers ~G From bilee at stanford.edu Sun Mar 16 15:38:43 2008 From: bilee at stanford.edu (Byoungil Lee) Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2008 14:38:43 -0800 Subject: Cascade Free 8:30pm-130am References: <20080313180306.fjodsg6bwoc8ccck@webmail.stanford.edu> <000c01c887ab$d36db980$a9b50c80@sangbumhome> Message-ID: <001901c887b6$7d3593c0$b66018ac@BILEEOFFICE> Sorry for the late notice. With Jim McVittie's help, we were able to identify the problem and order the replacement part (2 of them). They should be here shortly and we will install and re-enable the system soon after. We anticipate a few days of downtime. Sorry for the inconvenience. -- Mihir Tendulkar Applied Physics PhD Candidate Nishi Group, Stanford University
