pradeep and others interested,
it is not correct to say never to shutdown a tool ever.  clearly there are
situations when shutting down a tool is the proper response.  i advised
renata to shutdown the ccp-dep because the control computer was completely
unresponsive and the machine not capable of being used until that issue was
fixed.  i am glad you knew how to fix it, if this condition is something
that can easily be recovered from we should put the recovery instructions
online so that users can keep the system active.  my and renata's
inexperience with this condition and the tool lead to the erroneous
decision to shutdown the tool vs reporting the problem.  we will know
better next time, but for this instance at least proper documentation can
allow all other users to benefit from our mistake as well.

You are correct and I was planning to speak with Pradeep.  I would 
rather have tools shutdown if there's any concern about safety or tool 
damage.  And in fact, this was absolutely the proper response for you 
and Renata or any other regular user of the CCP.  At the very least, it 
makes our tool stats more accurate.  And in this case, a novice 
rebooting the system could do serious harm.  At this time, this is not 
something that non-superusers should do because if I understand 
correctly, if this is not done properly, the system can be seriously 
damaged if it is not in a safe configuration. But Pradeep is a superuser 
on this tool and so has been trained on system recovery.

One of the things that has been discussed has been to allow superusers 
to clear red shutdowns in certain cases.  These would have to be on a 
tool-by-tool basis and only for specific, fairly routine procedures.  
This may be one of them.  At some point soon, we should have a community 
meeting of superusers to discuss the superuser role in SNF.

The software crashed, and after reopening the software (sysmon.exe) and
placing it in the standby mode the tool refuses to pump down.
