From edmyers at stanford.edu Thu May 3 14:45:39 2012 From: edmyers at stanford.edu (Ed Myers) Date: Thu, 03 May 2012 14:45:39 -0700 Subject: CMP Update, 5/3/12 Message-ID: <4FA2FC83.3050807@stanford.edu> All, I want to give everyone an update on the status of the CMP. Working with GnP, this morning I believe we have identified the component which has failed. It's a component which can be found in the US and Jim is writing a PO for it's purchase. There is some concern that there is logic problems between the valve and the protocol of how we idle the CMP system. This will be verified following it's installation. All of the polishing heads are on their way for modification. They are scheduled to arrive at GnP on May 8th. I will talk with GnP next week to get an idea of how long the modifications will take. While they did not give me a date as to when they will be completed, I expect they will be very diligent. I am guessing at a week for the repair and a week for shipping. We have a replacement regulator on order. This has a longer lead time than expected of 6 weeks (it's a US manufacture). I am working with the US representative for GnP to see if they have on in stock or have a protocol for adapting a regulator for our application. They have a lot of experience in these regulators. Getting this regulator replaced is the gating item to using the system. I am expecting about a 1 week travel time. This means the new heads should arrive around June 1st. Remember, we must also receive and install the replacement regulator before the system will come out of shutdown. We are expecting the regulator to arrive around this time also. Regards, Ed
