I've just found a threading bug in the equipment manager that's been hidden for a couple of years. I'm going to fix it today. So tomorrow, I'll return to the migration, or more likely, the recreation of the Coral database under Oracle 9.2. Fortunately, this was a human error and not a Coral error so it shouldn't happen again if we can keep my fingers from moving faster than my brain. We do appreciate the specific information that you and Len are providing so that we can correct the charges and confirm that we have no other problems. Thanks to you and Len for your patience and prompt problem reporting! Message-ID: <3D52FFFF.85992465@snf.stanford.edu> Hello Coral development team -- Claudia Richter (crichter at snf) just called because she was checking using remote Coral to check the equipment history of various equipment against her own records. She says she used tylannitride from about 8-1 yesterday, wbdiff just beforehand, and wbnonmetal the previous day. None of her "enables" appears at all. (latta is shown all day for tylannitride, hector all day for wbdiff, and various other people for wbnonmetal.) I've asked around and it seems that a lot of histories are not quite right. Is this so? [This is a concern for Claudia (and possible others) because she uses histories to keep track of her lab charges.] Thanks, Mary -- Mary X. I was able to download the Java apps but whenever I try to open remote Coral (either by clicking on the Coral Remote shortcut on my desktop, or by the link in Explorer) the only thing that happens is that a small Java Web Start title window opens up and closes shortly thereafter. Nothing else happens no matter how long I wait. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional, if that makes any difference. One other thing: I am unable to get the Remote Coral Link to come up on Netscape Explorer (v6.1). No problem on Explorer, but will not come up on Netscape. Despite having already downloaded Java Web Start the Remote Coral Access web page says I still need to install it. The next time that you see one of my "warning e-mail messages" it will probably be me testing it for real to see if it actually restarts the servers. It didn't actually restart the servers ... I think that it is a permission problem in that it runs as labnet instead of root so that it isn't allowed to do all of the "su admin ..." types of things for a full restart. So, I'll have to fiddle a bit more ... but it does detect and send out a warning. I click on Launch Remote Coral and a small pop up window saying "Java Web Start 1.0.1" comes up, and then there is no more of anything. I wonder what is the problem. Could the problem be with my remote coral password, that somehow the system does not register? Please help. Thanks. Tze Wee -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Set up Java Web Start so that it performs logging ... it will let you set up logging under the "Preferences" window ... Then, send this to us once you have a log of a failed run. 2. What version of Java do you have running on your machine ... if it is 1.4.0 or newer, you should look for a file named "jce.jar" that should be found in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext (I think). If that is the case, rename it "jce.jar.ignore" and make sure that jce.jar doesn't exist any more ... Then, let us know what you find.
