From shott at stanford.edu Fri Mar 6 08:29:34 2009 From: shott at stanford.edu (John Shott) Date: Fri, 06 Mar 2009 08:29:34 -0800 Subject: Power Supply Update .... Message-ID: <49B14F6E.8040806@stanford.edu> Drytek2 Communty: This morning we got rid of the battery in the new RF power display box and replaced it with a DC-DC converter. However, for reasons that we am still investigating, there is currently a -28W offset in the readings. In other words, with RF power off, the forward power reads -28W. Accordingly, when you see a reading of 472W forward, you are actually getting 500W. Also, when the reflected power reads -18W you actually have a reflected power of 10W. So, 472 Watts INDICATED = 500 Watts ACTUAL. Note: we have also calibrated the pots so that a setting of 5.00 should result in a power that is dangerously close to 500 Watts (actual) .... which for the moment will be 472 Watts indicated. We are exploring the cause of this DC offset, but at the moment it seems that living with it is better than going back to the short lifetime battery usage. Thanks, John
