I traced the problem to an open door switch on the back of the cabinet. Apparently, the duct tape isn't working. I bypassed the switch so he can finish his run- it's the tiny dooor, so it is minimal risk that anyone can get into this door, past the hoist. But this should be fixed more permanently.
