This is a reminder to all users that when you have completed your depositions you need to leave the system clean and ready for the next use and report all problems. Especially in our Log books. Innotec will go down for shield/ carousel clean this coming Monday, which will take most of the day if Jim Haydon doesn't run into any other problems. I've vacuumed the best that I could and coated the chamber with 1 micron of Al, but still showed signs of peeling again. Re vacuumed and left it in the hands of the next user. It has to be at least three quarters full in its pocket (depth), if not add pellets. If there isn't any pellets available then *_don't use_* that source. Before starting or enabling the Innotec, you should check to make sure you have enough material to operate with, without endangering the equipment or source. If your doing depositions when staff members are not on site, you should be checking the sources earlier in the day or earlier in the week. Any questions, please see me. I have heard that cleaning a glass surface just prior to deposition by plasma etching, argon ion milling, or simple heating may promote adhesion. Has anyone ever tried these methods? Right now, I am using a 1.5nm Cr layer for adhesion (of a 55nm Au layer which is for an e-beam lithography process with PMMA and liftoff), but I would like to eliminate or reduce this layer.
