From mtang at stanford.edu Tue Jan 6 18:27:24 2009 From: mtang at stanford.edu (Mary Tang) Date: Tue, 06 Jan 2009 18:27:24 -0800 Subject: Stand by reservations on innotec Message-ID: <4964130C.5000802@stanford.edu> Hi all -- As you might have noticed, I've reserved the innotec from 2 am - 6 am on weekdays. This is something that Nancy has been doing for the stsetch and there has been a lot of good feedback. Realizing how difficult it is to get reservations on the innotec -- and that many reservations are not kept -- we're going to try reserving the system at this time for use by labmembers who have pressing needs and cannot get a reservation. If you would like to use one of these "stand by" time slots, let Jeannie or me know and we'll assign it. If no one asks for the slot, the 15 minute no-show rule applies and anyone may use the system then. We realize this won't solve the reservations problems, but hopefully, this will help anyone with an urgent need. Let us know what you think. Mary -- Mary X. The used shutters that are peeling get cleaned and recycled again for use. If anyone has seen or knows where the rest of our shutters have gone, please let me know. It will take awhile to re-order and sent out for clean. For now if a shutter is peeling and we are out of clean shutters, you'll have to clean (remove peeling metal) and reuse the shutter. You can use the chisel to remove the peeling. These are available for use by anyone who may be having difficulty getting a reservation in the time frame needed. 1. If you want a slot, contact or email a staff member who can assign the reservation to you. 2. To see the labmember who is assigned a standby slot, double-click on the reservation slot. Under "Member", it will list the Coral ID for the labmember. If the "Member" is "jperez" or other staff member, it is not assigned (not likely staff use will occur at 2 am.) 3. Whether standby slots are assigned, they are still subject to the 15-minute rule: at 2:15 am, if no one shows up (or left a note or other communication) the machine is free to anyone to use. 4. If you are assigned a standby slot and then don't need it for some reason, please inform innotec at snf so that other people will know it is available. Thanks! Mary -- Mary X.
