SNF Lab Members:
At a bit before 5 p.m. this evening, the yellow "Acid Neutralization
Failure" lamps began flashing.
There was a temporary "Do Not Dump Acid" sign placed on the door at that
point.
At this time (about 6:45 p.m.), we believe that the acid waste system is
fully operational. Tony Padilla got the call from work control and was
back here before 5:30. A little investigation showed that the "fine
tune" pumps that inject sodium hydroxide into the system had lost their
prime.
Some more work followed by some testing restored the prime to the pumps
and verified that the system is functioning properly.
Accordingly, it is now OK to dump acids in the normal, safe manner.
Thank you for your continued support,
John
