From mtang at stanford.edu Mon Dec 15 10:02:16 2008 From: mtang at stanford.edu (Mary Tang) Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2008 10:02:16 -0800 Subject: Lampoly will be shut down Message-ID: <49469BA8.8040008@stanford.edu> Dear lampoly users -- The lampoly will be shut down today and is not likely to be up again until Jan. 6. The system is running fine; however, stsetch is not as its turbo has failed. And lampoly has the same turbopump. With deepest apologies for the short notice, we hope this does not seriously inconvenience anyone. Please let me know if it does. Please understand that this is not taken lightly -- we have been slowly standardizing the turbopumps for some time and keeping spares on hand. However, the spares have either been recently installed or are out on rebuild and not due back until next week. This time of year is busiest for service companies, since many fabs shutdown in December. Since the demand for stsetch is much higher than for lampoly, it was agreed this morning to swap turbopumps for the remaining three working days of this year. Lampoly is otherwise functional, so we don't anticipate problems for startup in January. Thanks for your patience --- Your SNF staff -- Mary X.
