Well, it IS almost time for taxes, but that's not the reason for this email -- it's time for annual reviews! For those of you who haven't undergone this ritual, this is really quite a serious matter. This is your opportunity to review your progress, and communicate what you want and need to support your continued development. (Not to mention, anticipate a pay increase!) I'm attaching a form here which is designed to be used as a guideline for pre-review discussions. Please try to fill out this form. We will go over this form, one-on-one (or two-on-one, with Mahnaz, where appropriate). This form, our discussion, and (somewhat) weekly reports will be used to write up your official review. We will then go over the official review, which will then be ranked with all other reviews for the department (which, by the way, is all of Electrical Engineering -- SNF is not yet its own department.) Once everything is collated, and the budget is determined, then pay raises are determined. This whole process is completed by September. Whew! So, for now, please review this form and fill it out to the best of your ability. When you are ready, please let me know, so we can set up meetings. A sincere and dedicated effort was made by both SNF staff and Hitachi staff members in both Dallas, TX and Japan to resolve a number of motor drive circuit and stage sensor issues which will require further effort and time to effects repairs. There is also expected scheduled downtime next week related to installation of the RAITH 150 EBL system due to arrive in April for which we are currently preparing the site services and facilities. Please remove your reservations from CORL. It is not expected to have this machine back up before March 29, 2002 without further support or intervention from Hitachi Field Service. I would suggest making your reservations for after 3-29-2002. We will immediately announce to this list when the system is next expected to resume 'normal' operations. Thank you for your support!
