I am having an issue with the reverse beam blanker problem. The FAQ says to make sure the beam is off on the raith computer and then reset the ELPHY toggle switch. But this now makes it so that the beam is always on. Can anyone help me with this?

Subject: Raith shutdown:T motor and loadlock valve errors

Cannot successfully load or unload because the T motor cannot find its limits. Also, loadlock valve cannot be closed. Repeated attempts to load have all failed. Do not use the Raith.

This problem has come up in the past; however, after not being able to find inner/outer position, the loadlock valve will not close. This is critical, because an open loadlock valve will cause the turbopump to overheat and fail.

I contacted Dr. Joseph Klingfus at Raith and he led me through an involved procedure to manually close the loadlock. I had to open the backpanel on the Raith equipment rack and have left it open temporarily for convenience.
Otherwise, vacuum levels seem normal. System is 1e-6 and Gun vacuum is 1e-9.

Hi all --

Apologies for the delay.  Lev Markov came in and worked on the system 
today, made some repairs and tested the system out. 

He didn't observe any more failures.  But this is apparently 
intermittent and it may occur again.  So, for now, the system is OK to 
use.  But if this error is observed, either contact a Raith champion (if 
one is handy) who should be able to rescue the system in manual mode, or 
call Lev at his direct line, which is posted in the Raith room.

DO NOT run with the loadlock not closed, as this will overheat/burnout 
the turbopump.  Make sure to contact a Raith champion or Lev.

Please make sure to log problems and observations on Coral.

RAITH Group XXXIX Basic Users class this week and space exist for

Several students may have 'fallen through the cracks, and did not show

This is a great opportunity to review and refresh yourself on RAITH 
system operations in more detail or obtain advice and support on your 
EBL  projects.

Today, Wednesday August 19 from 10 - 12:30 and 2:00 until 6:00 PM, we 
will be performing Layer One to Layer Two overlay alignment exposures on 
Silicon.
We will also be going over the GDSII editor in the RAITH application 
working up some new test patterns to test for overlay registration accuracy.

Greetings:
This week I have been working  in earnest  on the RAITH 150 system to
recover from the poor state the system was rendered in during my absence
last week.  The Load Lock valve was damaged when a User(s) attempted to
close the high vacuum valve manually by inserting the pressure lines
together, or by clicking YES on the warning message, ' is it OK to close the
High vacuum valve?"  (It was not....)

This resulted in damage to the sealing surfaces of the high vacuum valve
seat resulting in higher than normal SYSTEM Chamber and GUN Chamber vacuum
levels. This is of great concern as contamination to the gun section could
bring us down hard resulting in a need for a total column re-buiild  with
replacement of apertures, anode plate, and liner tube in the column. I have
ordered the parts through Raith USA Inc. and the only day I can schedule
them here on site next week will be Monday.

Therefore the RAITH system will not be available to Users from 10 AM until
after 5 PM on next Monday August 24, 2009.
 Users affected by this downtime are requested to see me during my office
hours to gain assistance at rescheduling.

*Good Morning Raith Users:

*Starting late Friday August 28th and continuing through September 14, 
2009  I will be away from SNF performing my public service commitment 
working as a Black Rock Ranger

<http://www.burningman.com/>..  During this time starting mid day 
Saturday I will be off the cell phone grid at times and you will be 
unable to reach me by cell phone for support on the Raith 150 system.    
I will respond to all voice mails left on my phone as soon as I am able 
to at 415-412-4825.

All PMMA's have been stocked in sufficient supplies to last through this 
period.  Please use these expensive engineering materials frugally and 
if we run out please see Mahnaz Mansourpour or David Cala to obtain the 
next bottle of materials.

Please enlist the aid of your local Raith Champions for assistance on 
the tool should you run into any problems whatsoever.

Below and attached I have the Raith FAQ No. 6,* *How to Get Help - "WHO 
ARE YOU GOING TO CALL" and the Raith Champion list and email addresses.

Please play nicely together and work to maximize throughput on the 
system while I am away.

How to Get Help - "WHO ARE YOU GOING TO

*Greetings Raith Users:**
*I wish to remind everyone that we have set into place a hierarchical 
structure on what to do and whom to call if you encounter problems on 
the RAITH 150 system

during my absence, or for those times I am not be available by cell phone.

 

*  For Example:*

 

?        You encounter a LOAD LOCK ERROR on the system and cannot

?        continue the Load or Unload cycle without an administrator 
login and support.

?        The pumps or system hardware are not working normally and the

?        logic may have become reversed.

?        Beam Blanking Logic is reversed due to an RAITH150.exe

?        application crash when the beam was unblanked in your software 
panel ...

1.   If I am available, try to call me on my cell phone and I will walk 
you through the Recovery procedures. My number is 001-415-412-4825.
 Be sure to leave Voice Mail if I don't answer!
