fiji status update

hello all,
update from the ald front.
along with joe krueger of cambridgenanotech we successfully deposited the
first qualification film with the fiji-l chamber today. we ran 200 cycles
of TDMA-Hf with O2 plasma on a blank Si wafer. 221A of HfO2 resulted (there
was definitely some native oxide present as the wafers were diffusion
cleaned many hours earlier). the non-uniformity over a 100mm wafer was 1%.
measurements were performed by ellipsometry. tomorrow we will test thermal
hafnia, alumina by plasma and thermal process and a plasma TiN film. the
qualification for the ozone generator has been postponed currently. a great
step forward for the ald capability at snf. obviously significant
characterization work lies ahead for us, but it looks like the system is
well ready to move forward.

a leak on the pump line at the stop valve for fiji-r was discovered today in
prepping the chamber for acceptance test. a replacement part was requested
from CNT today and should arrive later this week. fiji-r acceptance test
will continue after that fix is employed.

i hope you are all as excited about this development as i. the acceptance
tests continue tomorrow and thursday. training information will go up on
the fiji website in the coming days (certainly by the weekend).

this test data was measured within the last hour as the first run was
completed. perhaps this continued effort in rapid dissemination of
information will continue to impress upon recipients of this email that i do
not withhold details about the system's progress from potential users.
