Likely a User had driven the X motor and stage mechanicals hard to zero point, tripping the XYZ stage overtravel sensors. Errors observed were E1 initially then E4 after that. Usrs is back on system and system is back up in niormal modes... This morning it was reported that the bigger cross section block and several of the angle moutns are now missing. Users are requested to not take any tools or materials from the Ebeam lab to other areas. if you need monuts please see james conway whom has a number of fixturing parts for Hitachi and other SEM manufacturers. The allen keys are custom order parts through hitachi and I hesitate to replace what may have been dropped under the floor or taken from the lab. Initially obs. E4 and after moving the X axis to X = 150 mm manually I was able to get it to rehome towards X = 0 again. Suspect wear or binding n the X worm drive that caused excessive current draw resulting in error on the Stage controller. However I did not see the two larger 25 mm cross section mounts that are now presumed to have been taken by careless Users. Item Two: Check resolution based on two user reports and found the movable aperture strip had been translated hard to its outer Y stop and was not in fact going into the holes on the multi hole aperture strip. recentered and adjusted for all holes in strip. Item Three: Normal adjustments to optimize system before shutdown. Aligned the gun section magnetically, then the upper and lower aperture strips and all column control sections are now working. Superb resolution for this age of tool. smallest feature resolved on the order of 3 - 5 nm Au on Carbon quantifoil sample. checked at 5 keV and 30 keV Four: Make note to test inflate and if required reseal the vibration isolation mounts that the main chamber is mounted upon to reduce vibration from external sources.
