Read this Message-ID: <3F3BF8B4.88B870D6@snf.stanford.edu> Hi, Folks Our illustrious Hummer has sputtered through another target. I have been on the web and phone trying to get our guy to sell us another gold target for 200 bucks-others sell them for 500. He's not coming through, so I have put my Platinum target in for now. This will cause no difference in the SEMs. One user wasn't sure it was good for his process. It has nothing to do with your process, as it will NOT be used in your process! The Hummer is for coating SEM specimens ONLY. Never is it to be used for metal dep as a process step! There are metal dep machines in the lab. Under no circumstances will you use it for contacts, metal layers, etc. One such dep will just about use our whole target, rendering the SEMs useless for most of us. If you see this being done, let me know. Users do risk being taken off the permit list if they don't comply with our simple rules. Behave! I'm watching! chw3 From charley at snf.stanford.edu Thu Aug 14 15:06:44 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 15:06:44 -0700 Subject: cross-section holder Message-ID: <3F3C07F4.BC109166@snf.stanford.edu> 4160 users, I have cut the channel in one of the cross-section holders to make it easier for those with 'sandwiches' to get them into the holder. It is easy to see the wider slot. Also, in case some have forgotten, it is far easier to put your chip in the holder, then put the holder in the Hummer and coat the whole thing, rather than trying to put your coated specimen in the holder after coating, trying not to wipe off the coating. It will wipe off very easily. chw3 From charley at snf.stanford.edu Tue Aug 19 09:45:11 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 09:45:11 -0700 Subject: Camera Screen! Message-ID: <3F425417.C056E95A@snf.stanford.edu> 4160 people, We got the use of the PCTV image grabber gizmo free because the WebSEM folks needed an SEM on which to install it. Part of the deal was that others, on the web, would be able to see what's going on. We need to fulfill our half of the bargain by making sure the camera view in the chamber is left on, unless, of course, you're using the machine. Let's look at the PC and restore PCTV and the picture before leaving the room. The Raithers will use the PC for the Raith software, which is where we got the PC, so that's cool, too. So try to remember to put the camera view on, turn the camera illuminator down to about half-brightness to conserve the IR LEDs that are the light source. I do this when I am in the room, checking to see that the 4160 is left at high mag, slow scan and you've cleaned up your mess, so I'll be helping here.
