Message-ID: <3F01B452.75CCC203@snf.stanford.edu> SEM folks, The Hummer 'gold coater' has been trying to die on us for awhile and has finally succeeded. The pump will get its oil changed, etc and will be ready to go soon, but there is no oil mist filter on it and this is not really safe for humans and is making a mess in the cabinet. I'm going to move the pump out of the cabinet, get an oil mist filter, etc, so this may take a few days. I believe there is a coater in Materials Science, but I suspect it's in need of a new target and probably doesn't coat well. Look for updates. I know for some this is a crucial part of the process. I'll get it working as soon as possible. chw3 From charley at snf.stanford.edu Mon Jul 7 08:56:54 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Mon, 07 Jul 2003 08:56:54 -0700 Subject: Problem semhitachi 2003-07-07 00:14:43: Report Problem for semhitachi References: Message-ID: <3F099846.65C018C8@snf.stanford.edu> Yup, it has a problem pumping. I'm working on it at the current time, and hope it will give up and work today. The recently rebuilt pump I am using has a nice scratch all the way across the seal surface, so I need to fix that as well. Watch for updates on the semhitachi and sem4160 mail aliases, as there is no mail alias for the hummer. chw3 schaper at snf.stanford.edu wrote: > Sputter tool - Technics Hummer V - possible problem pulling sufficient vacuum From charley at snf.stanford.edu Tue Jul 8 13:23:08 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Tue, 08 Jul 2003 13:23:08 -0700 Subject: Hummer Update! I have beeen working on it for three days, now, thinking it's the O-rings, the target seals, etc. Nope, it's the newly-rebuilt pump, with all of two hours time on it.... It does 1.6 Torr. Not Millitorr, but Torr. You could breathe in there. So I'll see what options we have. I know all of you are waiting. Me, too! chw3 From charley at snf.stanford.edu Mon Jul 14 16:32:16 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Mon, 14 Jul 2003 16:32:16 -0700 Subject: It lives! Any problems, call me immediately! It should last forvever now, but.... chw3 From charley at snf.stanford.edu Mon Jul 28 09:36:26 2003 From: charley at snf.stanford.edu (charley) Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 09:36:26 -0700 Subject: Moving? Message-ID: <3F25510A.526CF0C2@snf.stanford.edu> 4160 users, DO NOT move the SEM around in the room. There are mnay wires attached to it from other cabinets and under the floor. You risk ripping these out and some would be hard to replace. If you need to see the chamber view while loading/unloading, you can do so on the PCTV monitor, on the center table in the room. Do not move the SEM. Ever. chw3
