From rik9 at stanford.edu Tue Aug 1 02:55:59 2006 From: rik9 at stanford.edu (Rishi Kant) Date: Tue, 1 Aug 2006 02:55:59 -0700 Subject: Process question Message-ID: <1154426158.44cf252f0065c@webmail> Hi, We are in ME342 and we have a question about our process. We have a sandwich of Al-Cured Polyimid-Al and we need to deposit an oxide layer on top of it and then take it to P5000. Is it okay to put these wafers in the LTO tube? The polyimide is fully covered with Al. If this is going to cause too much trouble, we can deposit our oxide using PECVD method. However, we need to do our etches in the P5000 chamber. Will it be okay to do so after coming from the PECVD tube? We are running very close to our class deadline, and would like to run these wafers as soon as possible. A quick response would be very much appreciated. Cheers, -ME342E From edmyers at stanford.edu Tue Aug 1 10:28:20 2006 From: edmyers at stanford.edu (Ed Myers) Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2006 10:28:20 -0700 Subject: Process question In-Reply-To: <1154426158.44cf252f0065c@webmail> References: <1154426158.44cf252f0065c@webmail> Message-ID: <6.2.5.6.2.20060801102741.03c7f240@stanford.edu> Rishi, No poyimide is not allowed in the LTO tube. Although the quality of LTO is not great at 300C, you can deposit layers good enough for masking at these low temperatures. Actually polymid layers should good for 400C depositions if fully cured. Does anyone have data on why cured polymide can not go into a LTO tube. I am not yet a labmember, and as such I do not have a coral login, but will become one if my new materials request is approved. My email address is whitg at stanford.edu, and my phone number is 650 704 8629. There are two chemicals that I would like to bring into SNF. The first is ruthenium acetylacetonate, or Ru(acac)3. Its molecular formula is Ru(C5H7O2)3, and the CAS number is 14284-93-6. It was purchased from Sigma Aldrich Co. Sigma Aldrich Customer Service PO Box 14508 St. Louis, MO 63178 Phone: 800-325-3010 www.sigmaaldrich.com The MSDS is attached to this email. On the MSDS it is labeled as toxic, an irritant, a neurological hazard, a teratogen, and a possible mutagen. The second chemical that I would like to bring in is 4,4',4''-Tris(N-3-methylphenyl-N-phenylamino)triphenylamine, or more commonly, MTDATA. Its molecular formula is C57H48N4, and its CAS number is 124729-98-2. It was purchased from H.W. Sands Co. H.W. Sands Co. 1080 East Indiantown Rd, Suite 206 Jupiter, FL 33477 Phone: (561) 743 8090 www.hwsands.com The MSDS is also attached to this email. On the MSDS it is labeled as stable but emits toxic fumes if ignited. It poses heath hazards to sensitive individuals but these hazards are relatively mild and exposure must be in large quantities. I am evaporating these thin solid films to use in organic solar cells and need to measure thickness and roughness with AFM and profilometer. While both chemicals are originally in powder form, the only form in which I will be bringing it into the lab is in thin solid films on glass substrates. The films will only be brought in to be measured on the AFM and profilometer, no other equipment, and are very thin, on the order of nanometers. The total mass of the films is less than 5 mg per sample. The samples will not be stored in the cleanroom, nor will any waste be created and disposed of in the cleanroom. Thank you for considering my request. Please let me know if you require any additional information from me. These films are W or Ni on Si/SiO2 deposited by sputtering in a cleanroom here. Could you please give me a list of elements we should be looking for? Is it enough to just do a TXRF using the W source? How many points should we measure? Comments: This is slow because they are looking for a predefined checklist and not an interactive discussion. I have not been successful in getting the history or material usage of the their tool. We should be able to resolve this, with a few more email iterations. 2) AFM imaging of Ru(C5H7O2)3 and 4,4',4''-Tris(N-3-methylphenyl-N-phenylamino)triphenylamin which has been deposited outside of SNF. Comments: This should be approved. I have left a number of items visible in today's spreadsheet. Please look them over and see if you have any comments. If I don't receive any comments by the end of the week, I will inform the users of SpecMats decision.
