From shott at snf.stanford.edu Sun Jun 25 10:17:56 2000 From: shott at snf.stanford.edu (John Shott) Date: Sun, 25 Jun 2000 10:17:56 -0700 Subject: Wafersaw operational ... but please be careful. Message-ID: <39563EC4.2867D8DC@snf.stanford.edu> K&S Wafer Saw Users ... After a lengthy down time, I believe that the K&S 775 Wafer Saw is operational. We believe that the occasional "dropping of the head/blade assembly" was due to an intermittent fault in the 5V power supply which has been repaired. We have also replaced the spindle drive and have repaired the theta stage. Finally, there had been a problem with the cut depth adjustment that we believe has also been repaired. So, the shutdown has been removed and the saw is once again operational. However, because it is increasingly difficult to get spare parts and support for this machine, please treat it with extra care. In particular, if you don't know how to do something .... please ask rather than making an error. Also, if you see some strange machine behavior, please report it so that we can try to look at and solve problems before they become troublesome. Finally, do some test cuts on a sample wafer before putting your real wafer at risk ... Good luck, John
