Elmer is looking into having it sent out to be rebuilt and balanced. This could take soon time. We will give you more info when we have it. sorry for the inconvenience -m From eenriquez at snf.stanford.edu Fri Aug 5 09:15:11 2005 From: eenriquez at snf.stanford.edu (Elmer Enriquez) Date: Fri, 05 Aug 2005 09:15:11 -0700 Subject: Wafer saw update 8/5/05 Message-ID: <42F3908F.8070401@snf.stanford.edu> As you know the wafer saw is currently down for a bad spindle. The plan to repair it is to bring field service on site to replace the spindle and also to check/repair the whole system so that we can bring it as close as possible to factory spec. Once field service is on site, the work will take about 2 - 3 days. I should have the PO submitted today. It will then take a few days for the PO to go through purchasing and then we'll have to make travel arrangements. The best guess right now is for the wafer saw to be operational by 8/19. I will keep you posted. The service fellow is here! Unfortunately, the spindle assembly is not, due to a FedEx misdelivery (or rather, missed delivery -- they apparently forgot a pallet), but is due to arrive tomorrow morning. The service guy (darn, I forgot his name) also just found that the rotation gears were trashed, but luckily thinks he's got a lead on replacement parts. In summary, it's not likely we're coming up this week, although hopeful for Monday (really hopeful, as our fellow has plane tickets for Monday morning.) More news later -- Mary -- Mary X. The rebuilt spindle looks great, the rotation assembly is being rebuild now (which will hopefully address the intermittent 90 rotation alignment problem), and he replaced a charred wire on the Z-axis tach (which will hopefully address the intermittent Z-overshoot.) The way things look, the system will be back up to greenlight status certainly by lunchtime tomorrow. It may be back up earlier (and if there are any expert wafersaw users willing to volunteer to check the system out in case it is, let us know.) Mary -- Mary X.
