From edmyers at stanford.edu Mon Jul 7 14:10:18 2008 From: edmyers at stanford.edu (Ed Myers) Date: Mon, 07 Jul 2008 14:10:18 -0700 Subject: Woollam Update Message-ID: <6.2.5.6.2.20080707140438.02e5ae08@stanford.edu> All, I appears we lost the disk drive control board and it may not have been a virus. I am trying to locate the board, but my best guess is the tool will be down through Wednesday. If it was the disk drive board all of you who saved your data on the hard drive lucked out. Remember, these drives should not be viewed as your personal storage devices. We lost all the data on the AFM2 last year and came close to losing all the Woollam data. Also, I noticed we have 50+ hours of lamp time since July 23rd. Seems like some are leaving the lamp on a lot longer than needed. We have the hard drive board and it is installed. We are now facing Window's configuration and driver challenges since we can not get the computer to boot up. I am hopeful for late Thursday but it easily could be Friday. I did not find the configuration file for the wavelength upgrade. This means the system is only good for 210-1000nm wavelengths. I have contacted Woollam and they will be sending me the configuration file next. If you have any problems, please let me know And yes, all the data was lost Ed From edmyers at stanford.edu Thu Jul 24 07:41:45 2008 From: edmyers at stanford.edu (Ed Myers) Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2008 07:41:45 -0700 Subject: VASE Manger Errors Message-ID: <6.2.5.6.2.20080724073755.0264d0c8@stanford.edu> All, We lost all of the recipe files when we had the hard drive problem. I rushed and tried to get a couple of simple recipes generated for the VASE manager, but they are not working correctly. I think there is a little problem in the set up, since we are seeing the program hang during the alignment process. I will spend some time on the VASE manger when I return from my vacation. I did not see any problems with the WVASE32 analysis program. Regards, Ed
