when the machine is working, there is a noise coming from it. it is probably the pump.

The pump does sound normal when the chamber is under vacuum.  Sometiimes the top plate does not close all the way and then the pump sounds a lot louder and does not quiet down.  If the pump does not get quiet, make sure the top plate is closed.

elmer and i switched pumps from an XDi10 to an XDi5 on wednesday october 13.  everything looks to be in order, but i put in a comment mostly for tracking and in case anyone sees changes in pump related issues.
